Blood & its Components

YOU TAKE REST, LET YOUR BODY FIGHT

Blood is a composition of plasma, RBCs (red blood cell) , WBCs (white blood cell) and platelets.
Plasma is a colourless fluid which provides fluidity to the blood.

RBC (Erythrocytes) are produced in bone marrow. These cells don’t have nucleus because these have to carry maximum amount of oxygen to transport all over the body. RBCs have haemoglobin molecule which has Iron element. This element strongly binds to oxygen. Yes. You got it right !! thus meal with much amount of iron content is advised to take during high blood loss.

Platelets responsible for clotting of blood during injuries. Vitamin-K is required for the formation of platelets.

Now comes the soldiers of the body, WBCs (leukocytes) produced in lymph nodes, spleen and thymus gland. These cells fights against the foreign micro organisms that makes us fall sick.

IMMUNISATION
When the body is exposed to microbes it produces specific weapons against it called antibodies. These antibodies once formed stays for lifetime. Thus making the body immuned against that particular microbe.

VACCINATION
The vaccine you take is actually weakened or dead  microbe that can boost up the immune cells to produce antibodies against it but could not cause disease. Edward Jenner was the first person to make vaccine against the disease cowpox.
Now could you think of the time you were having tasty delicious Polio virus?
