KNOW YOUR OWN NATURE : ENVIRONMENT

Earth is an only planet in our solar system on which life exists. Constellation of factors is responsible for it such as presence of air, water, ozone layer and other resources. These resources are the naturally occurring material and are necessary for life. All living organisms together with atmosphere (air), hydrosphere (water) and lithosphere (outer crust of earth, i.e. soil) with all physiological factors prevailing in this region form Biosphere.
Celebrates these days too……..
21st March- World forest day

22nd March- World water day
22nd April- World earth day
5th June- World environment day
3rd October- World animal day
4th October- World habitat day
3rd December- World conservation day
29th December- Biological diversity day
Water, a wonder liquid, a need – Water  is known to be universal solvent. Substances are transported in the body in dissolved form. It helps in maintain the body temperature and expelling out the metabolic waste of our body.
Consequences of water pollution on aquatic life.
Eutrophication – pollutant chemicals such as phosphates and nitrates dissolved in water bodies acts as a source of nutrient of the algae growing there, which further accelerates its growth called algal bloom. As the algae starts consuming more amount of oxygen, the amount of dissolved oxygen dip down eventually causing death of other aquatic animal.
Biomagnification – Simply the word tells magnification of chemical in biological community. It refers to the increase in concentration of chemical pollutant as they pass through food chain. Example any chemical is consumed by a small fish gets increased when the same fish is being eaten by a giant fish.
Coliform is a group of bacteria when found in human intestine, indicates the contamination in water.
Poison is in the air – Industries like cotton textile mills, wheat flour mills and chemical industries release poisonous gases such as sulphur di and trioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide. Acid rain is the result of presence of these gases in air which turns the rain water acidic. Incomplete combustion of fuel gives poisonous gas, carbon monoxide. These pollutants cause severe respiratory problems.
