GOVERNMENT SCHEMES LAUNCHED IN JANUARY: A BRIEF
Various Schemes launched by government in January with their brief introduction are given below.
1. GANGA GRAM YOJNA
Ganga Gram Yojna is related to Village Puth in Hapur district (UP). It was launched on 5th January 2016 by Uma Bharti who is the Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
According to this scheme, 1600 villages of UP located along the banks of river Ganga will be developed
Important features of the Ganga Gram Yojana
• Approx 1 crore will be invested on each village.
• For the first phase two hundred villages are selected.
• It is mentioned in the scheme that every house should have at least one toilet.
• Ganga is getting polluted by the open drains that directly fall into it. So there is a recommendation to look for an alternative arrangements for sewage treatment.
2. PRADHAN MANTRI FASAL BIMA YOJNA
It is a new crop insurance scheme that has been launched on 13th January 2016. It has been actually launched to improve the agricultural sector by the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Important points of the scheme are :
Farmers will pay only 2 % for all Kharif crops and 1.5 % for all Rabi crops as a uniform insurance premium.
Farmers will pay a premium of only 5 % in case of annual commercial and horticultural crops.
There is no upper limit on Government subsidy. Even if balance premium is 90%, it will be borne by the Government.
3. START-UP INDIA, STAND-UP INDIA ACTION PLAN
Prime minister launched Start-up India, Stand-up India on 16th January 2016. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ambitious ‘Startup India’ Movement to boost digital entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. He spelt out the various salient features of the action plan.
4. SAHAJ SCHEME
Sahaj Scheme is for online booking of LPG cylinders. It was launched by the Union Government. Its web portal www.mylpg.in is available in thirteen languages.
Dharmendra Pradhan who is the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas (Independent Charge) has launched this facility.
With the help of this facility, customers can book the cylinder around the clock and pay in advance.
5. GIRIPUTHRIKA KALYANA PATHAKAM SCHEME
Andhra Pradesh Government launched Giriputhrika Kalyana Pathakam Scheme.
This scheme is launched with an aim to support tribal women.
This scheme was launched by Social Welfare Minister of AP Mr. Ravela Kishore Babu.
As per this scheme one time financial assistance of 50000 rupees will be given to each tribal girl who gets married.
6. NAI MANZIL SCHEME
1. This scheme is for the girls who live in Srinagar and are attached with three institutions- University of Kashmir, two Madarsas and Skill Development Centre.
2. This scheme was launched in Jammu and Kashmir.
3. Girls of Srinagar will be given training in skill development for three months.
4. This training will be provided to the minority females in the region for seven identified women related sectors.
5. A stipend of 4500 rupees for the course will also be provided.
